A recent Shoot....

Ok, I have finally had a chance to get some of these pics ready. Its of one of the villas here in Canouan. So without much talking here are the pics.

Exterior:

Interior:

It was a fun shoot and it gave me a chance to try out my new tripod, a Manfrotto 190PROXB with a 488 ball head. It is a nice tripod combo and I loved all of the positions I could put it in, but I do realise some of its limitations.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed and as usual comments are welcome

my my my..................

....The last few weeks were quite hectic. I have so little time to post. I am just dropping a few short lines to let all know that I am alive. I have been shooting and hopefully I should have some pics to show for it soon. I had almost forgotten what a big help a polarizer can be, but I found my way again ;-) and hope not to lose it.

It also means that I will need to get another one for my future lens which would also go to landscape and interior photography.

Anyhow I am going to get some much needed sleep, and hope to post pretty soon again with some pics and my experiences doing so.

The official launch ......

Here on the Island that I work , the airport was redone one year ago. It was upgraded with a larger terminal building and a longer runway. Before, it was not capable of accommodating the larger private jets and big aircrafts like a Boeing 737. Now, we have had two Boeing 737s land here. This is the largest aircraft to land on Canouan... to date ;-) To give you an idea of Canouan, here is a website showcasing the resort that is here: http://www.canouan.com/

With that background out of the way, a regional airline company, LIAT, has decided to service this little island paradise by adding a route through Canouan. Needless to say, it is sort of a big deal to this little island, so a ceremony was held, and the press was invited etc. etc. I decided to play photo journalist for an hour, and here are a few of the shots I came away with.

Press and Dignitaries waiting on the aircraft to reach the ramp

The aircraft under a water salute:

The Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines

I just couldn't resist putting a good looking woman in here

The dignitaries at the press conference

There were some school students waiting to perform

And a few of the people in attendance.

I then had to leave and get back to work.. :-( But that is life. It was fun and I was happy for the exposure.

Interior Photography

So Lately, I have been trying my hand at interior photography. Where I am located, there are no real shops where I can get supplies like gels and such in easy demand. I have to order them online, and pay shipping and import duties, and this lengthens my time frame for the shoot.

Now, I have only done this a few times, but unless I change location, I have come up with a philosophy; use what light I got and walk with my white balance card and tripod. Of the stuff I have done, these were the only tools I had available to me. So I would take multiple exposures and try HDR using Photomatix if possible. Here are a few examples of this.....

This works, at least for me, in these spaces but on the third shoot I ever did I encountered this problem....
There was a need to capture outside as well. Once again, at least at the moment, I cannot afford the big light setups, so I had to use two exposures and blend them together to get it. It was interesting and fun as this was the first time I ever used the technique.

So I have a few more shoots to do and I will add a few pics here so that ou can view and critique away. Even these here, I am very eager to hear what you have to say about them and what ways I can improve.

Here are a few more just for fun and critique.

Bye.

Just Saying Hi!!

Hello all.

Just saying hi and touching base so to speak. I will post a few things later and start with some pics soon. Hopefully I will be able to give my impressions on the very few pieces of gear that I own and will hopefully own in the future and will also show off some pics every now and then, for crtique of course. Without it I can't get better can I?

So see ya later.
