Here on the Island that I work , the airport was redone one year ago. It was upgraded with a larger terminal building and a longer runway. Before, it was not capable of accommodating the larger private jets and big aircrafts like a Boeing 737. Now, we have had two Boeing 737s land here. This is the largest aircraft to land on Canouan... to date ;-) To give you an idea of Canouan, here is a website showcasing the resort that is here:

With that background out of the way, a regional airline company, LIAT, has decided to service this little island paradise by adding a route through Canouan. Needless to say, it is sort of a big deal to this little island, so a ceremony was held, and the press was invited etc. etc. I decided to play photo journalist for an hour, and here are a few of the shots I came away with.
Press and Dignitaries waiting on the aircraft to reach the ramp
The aircraft under a water salute:

The Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines
I just couldn't resist putting a good looking woman in here
The dignitaries at the press conference

There were some school students waiting to perform

And a few of the people in attendance.

I then had to leave and get back to work.. :-( But that is life. It was fun and I was happy for the exposure.
